A Chara,
The wait is finally over with championship season upon us for our premier intermediate footballers and intermediate hurlers. Our footballers face Bantry Blues in their opening tie on Saturday evening at 4pm in Ovens (Éire Óg GAA). Our lads have put massive effort into the year so far providing us with some top quality games in the Cork Credit Union’s Football League. Having already qualified for the league final last weekend with a victory over Rockchapel, we will be hoping to begin our championship on the front foot with a win on Saturday. Bantry Blues got relegated last year from the senior ranks so will undoubtedly be formidable opponents in Ovens. Getting a big support to Ovens will be very important to shout the lads on so please make every effort to travel on Saturday evening. Tickets are only available online and information on how to purchase these tickets can be found below. Best of luck to Danny Creedon who is the Premier Intermediate Football Captain for the year. Hopefully Danny will be lifting some silverware before the year is finished!
Finally, best wishes to all involved on Saturday, including all the players, manager Philip Moore and his management team of Mick Kiely, Aidan Kelleher, Cathal McAllister and Colin Rooney.

Club Season Ticket:
Cork GAA are again running their club season ticket this year. This ticket is great value with over 400 club championship games taking place over the coming months including County Finals and has been a big hit with supporters in previous years. The club season ticket costs €150 and more information is available at www.gaacork.ie/seasonticket
New Club Walkway:
Last weekend trojan work took place down in Páirc Liam Uí Riain, Rostellan, with club volunteers putting their shoulder to the wheel to complete our new club walkway. The walkway stretches around the perimeter of our complex in Rostellan and it is great to see people are already making use of this great new amenity in our community. It was a breath of fresh air to be below in Rostellan on Friday and Saturday with the amount of work being done by everyone with a big smile to be seen on all the faces of those who were in attendance. Over 220 tonne of stone was laid to complete approximately 700 metres of walkway. A mammoth effort that would not have been possible only for the volunteerism on show by all those who came down to lend a hand.
This walkway will be a brilliant amenity for everyone in our local community, both young and old. Over the last few years during the pandemic, I think we have all seen how important it can be to get out for some exercise. This path will be perfect to allow us all stay fit while taking in our national games at the same time! Of course, it is important to note that this walkway would not be possible if it wasn’t for everyone’s support to our club lotto. The club lotto is one of our main fundraising initiatives each week and without it projects like the club walkway and the opening of The Sideline Café would not be possible. It is very easy to support the club lotto. Tickets are available online at the following link: bit.ly/3bWAiqD
Online you have the option of purchasing a yearly ticket or can buy a ticket that will enter you into 5, 10 or 25 draws.
Tickets can also be bought in the below outlets each week.
· An Puc Ar Buile
· Guileen Arms
· Jacko’s
· Long Point
· Lower Aghada Pharmacy
· O’Shea’s Post Office
· Pier Garage
· Rosie’s
· The Schooner
· The Sideline Café
· Day’s Spar Supermarket
It would be great if anyone who currently doesn’t have a ticket in the club lotto would consider purchasing a ticket to help support club projects like the new walkway.
Last week’s lotto results are below.
Tonight’s jackpot is a tasty €11,250. Go get your ticket now! Again the link is: bit.ly/3bWAiqD
Please see photos attached from the work done on Friday and Saturday at the end of the newsletter.
Before you look at these, decide which one of the Murphy's did more work on Saturday!
Well done Gill!!!
U19 Football Championship:
Monday next, our U19 Footballers are in championship action against Carbery Rangers in Rostellan at 7:30pm in the Premier 2 Football County Quarter Final. This game is a repeat of last year’s minor league final which Aghada won after a brilliant game between the sides. All support for the team would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck lads! No tickets needed here!!!
That’s it for this week. Hopefully a big crowd can get to Ovens on Saturday to roar on our Premier Intermediate Footballers. Remember to the wear green and white. Enjoy the weekend and best of luck to Galway and Kerry club members who might be a bit nervous for Sunday afternoon!
