A Chara,

I hope everyone is well after the Easter weekend and the Easter Bunny called to your house for both young and old!

Results and Fixtures:

Our Premier Intermediate Footballers had a good win over Dromtarriffe on Saturday where they came away with a seven-point victory in the Cork Credit Unions Football League. The score line doesn’t do the game justice however, as our hosts took the lead for the first time in the game with nine minutes remaining. Credit must go to the Aghada bench, with the introduction of Jack Colbert, Cian Fleming and Luke O’Connell helping to stem the Dromtarriffe comeback and inject some life in to the Aghada cause. Luke O’Connell getting the game changing goal after great team play only moments after his introduction which eventually led to a good win for the lads. Pearse O’Neill was outstanding in midfield scoring some fantastic points with his final effort the last score of the game which came with a trademark PeeWee fist in the air celebration! Best on the day were Pearse, Fintan Cody and Kyle O’Shea.

On Easter Monday, our Junior C Footballers faced Midleton aiming to make it three wins from three in their league. It was great to see so many bodies lining our for our third football team with everyone getting at least a half an hour of gametime under their belt. The lads ran out four-point winners in the end. Best on the evening were John Manning, Aaron Atkinson, Pete White and Ronan Murphy. It is also great to hear Richie Condon is on the mend after picking up an injury in the game.

Our Intermediate Hurlers are back in action on Sunday when they face Kilbrittain in the Corks Red FM Hurling League in Kilbrittain at 12 noon. Best of luck to the lads and management here and hopefully we can get a good crowd out to show our support for the team.

Our Junior Hurlers look to build on their win Vs Killeagh a couple of weeks ago when they face Fr O’Neills in Aghavine next Monday evening at 7:15pm. Best of luck lads!

Photographer of the week…. Vera Terry!:

Well, we have competition for Denis O’Flynn’s fabulous photograph of our grounds from Camogie chairperson Vera Terry. Vera captured the attached stunning photo of our main field under a rainbow while our minor footballers trained on the 6th of April. As they say there is always a crock of gold at the end of a rainbow!

Ukraine Focus Group:

Finally, and most importantly, with the current crisis ongoing in Ukraine, the club is currently looking to form a focus group which can aid Ukrainian families who are now living in the parish. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Elaine Counihan on 0863499461.

Enjoy the rest of the week and hopefully we will get a big crowd to Kilbrittain.

Sin é agus slán,
