A Chara,

Spring is in full swing, the evenings are stretching, and there’s a real buzz around the club as the GAA season kicks into gear. The sights and sounds of training sessions, matches, and sideline chats fill our grounds once again, with players of all ages dusting off the boots and getting stuck in. With a busy weekend of action ahead, there’s no better time to get out and support our teams as they give it their all on the pitch!

Upcoming Fixtures:

We have a hectic and exciting weekend of club fixtures ahead, with plenty of action to look forward to!

On Saturday, our Premier Junior Camogie team take on Milford in their second league game of the year at home in Rostellan at 12 noon. Later that afternoon, our Intermediate A hurlers will be hoping to build on their 1st win of the season against Na Piarsaigh last time out when they face Glen Rovers in their third league outing, also in Rostellan, at 3pm.

Sunday kicks off with our Junior B hurlers looking to maintain their unbeaten league run as they take on Cobh in Rostellan at 11am. Meanwhile, our U21 Ladies Footballers will be battling it out for a place in the County Final as they travel to Mourneabbey for their Semi-Final Championship clash, also at 11am.

With plenty of important games taking place, we encourage all club members and supporters to get out and cheer on our teams if possible. Your support on the sidelines gives our players a great boost!

Congratulations - Tom Walsh:
Huge congratulations to Tom Walsh who was in goals for the Cork Minor Hurlers in the Gaelic Grounds Vs Limerick last Friday night. Tom made a fantastic save at a key juncture in the contest and hopefully this win sets the rebels up for a long season ahead! Well done also to Trevor O’Keeffe who is team coach and Kevin Foley who is involved in the backroom team.

Club Lotto:
Our club lotto jackpot continues to rise and currently stands at an enormous €18,000. Tickets are available online at: https://bit.ly/3bWAiqD and in all the usual local outlets. Remember, if you’re not in, you can’t win! The draw will be shown live as always on our club Facebook page at 9:30pm on Thursday night. Get your tickets before then!

Hurling League Final Vs Tipperary:
The best of luck to Fergal Condon and the Cork hurlers as they go in search of Cork's first Allianz Hurling League title since 1998 on Sunday. The game promises to be a cracker in front of a sold out SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Fingers crossed the Rebels are celebrating at 6pm on Sunday evening!

Rebels Bounty Match Ticket Winners:
Congratulations to Willie Wallace and Deirdre Haughey who were the lucky two to come out of the hat for our Rebels Bounty confined members draw for Munster Hurling Championship tickets. Both won a pair of tickets to one of Cork’s upcoming hurling championship fixtures. Willie won 2 tickets to Cork Vs Limerick & Deirdre won 2 tickets to Cork Vs Tipperary. Thanks to Willie and Deirdre for their support of the draw along with everyone who purchased a Rebels Bounty Ticket this year. The response to ticket sales this year was phenomenal & your support is greatly appreciated by all in the club.

Ladies Football League Final Vs Galway
Best wishes to the Cork Senior Ladies Football team who face Galway in the Lidl Division 2 League Final at 3pm on Saturday the 12th of April in Croke Park. We are delighted the team is captained by our own Sarah Leahy this year so here's hoping she is climbing the steps of the Hogan in a week's time! Best of luck to Sarah, her Cork team mates and fellow Aghada players Kaitlin Smith, Rachel Leahy, Abigail Ring, Hannah Looney and Aoife Healy who are also on the team.

Camogie League Final Vs Galway
It’s a league final frenzy for the Rebels with our Camogie team also in the league final against Galway on Sunday the 13th of April at 2:15pm in Semple Stadium, Thurles. Best of luck here to Aoife Healy, Hannah Looney and their Cork team mates as they aim to add league honours to the All Ireland they won last Summer.

Good Luck: Mark McCarthy
Best of luck to Mark McCarthy who is competing in a fundraising event for Glenroe GAA on the 6th of June. He would appreciate your support if possible at the following link: https://clubspot-events.com/donate/glenroe-gaa/mark-mccarthy/
Best wishes to Mark in what sounds like a grueling competition!

Condolence:
On behalf of CLG Áth Fhada, I would like to pass on our condolences to the family of Geraldine Desmond who passed away last week. Geraldine ran our first ever club shop and is fondly remembered by all in the club. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Let’s hope for some great performances and positive results over the weekend. Have a great few days in the good weather!

Slán,
Vince Rohan
