On the good news front we successfully relaunched our weekly Lotto draw last Thursday. There has been a great response across all our clubs to our drive to get people to sign up on line for the draw. To anyone who is playing our Lotto in any shape or form we say a huge thanks. This includes all who supported us by buying locally and all those that are now buying online. Ye’re support is truly appreciated. On a broader scale and in order to establish a solid financial footing for future facilities development in Rostellan, we have set a target to sign up 500 Lotto players that are either yearly subscribers or any of the other purchase options with the recurring auto renew option selected. This figure includes those currently in the yearly blue book with Mick O’Neill. (By the way if you are in the blue book already and Mick hasn’t been onto you it means you are still in the draw each week. When your sub is due, Mick will contact you and probably try and nudge you towards the online options at that point. Did ya ever get just a nudge off a Lahard O’Neill!!!. Brace yourself!)

To date we have 325 yearly/and or recurring Lotto players. This is a brilliant start to this fundraising drive and thanks to all for their support here. We need everyones help now to drive on and “keep the mercury rising” up towards our target on the new sign on the clubhouse wall. Anyone that wants to become a yearly subscriber, and avail of the 12 free draws you get if you do, but who doesn’t have access to online you can contact Mick on 086 8506457 and he will take your subscription.

Our next draw is tonight, Thursday. Get your tickets before its too late. Online option will close at 8.30pm on Thursday night. A whopping €10,250 jackpot is there to be won. Now wouldn’t that help you take your mind off level 3 covid!!

Speaking of which. With covid directly affecting our own community members and businesses and after a request from the parish medical centre, the club made a decision to slow down and reduce activities in Rostellan last week. Thanks to all for their understanding here. Subsequently as you already know, the Government introduced level 3 which means no games for underage teams and the GAA itself went one step further and cancelled games for all. I think the upshot of this and with our community’s health to the forefront, is that most groups have decided to stay away from Rostellan for this week also, and will see how the land lies in another few days. Again thanks to those that continue to play their part to keep us and our friends and relatives all safe and healthy in our parish and community. We wish a speedy recovery to anyone that might be affected by any illness at this time.

In other good news (before moving up the levels!), Congrats to our Minor footballers who won the East Championship with a great win over a highly fancied Cobh outfit last Saturday week. Well done to all involved here. A group that trained via Zoom during the first lockdown getting a deserved reward for their commitment and talent.

Also well done to our JC footballers won their championship 1st round in Carrigtwohill and against Carrigtwohill last Friday night. This team has 17 year olds right up to 46 year olds and all age groups inbetween this 29 year gap. So we have to lash out the auld – youth and experience cliché!! They could all be a year older before they play Rd 2!!

Sin é, Let’s all do our bit and hopefully we will see a much needed improvement in the Covid situation soon.
