Big hurling weekend coming up for us, so let’s start by giving due credit to our U16 hurlers who have showed the way already this week when they won the East Cork title in Cobh last Wednesday with a 4 point victory over St. Vincents. Well done to all involved there and here is hoping it paves the way for a couple of more wins at the weekend.

1st up on Saturday at 5pm in Riverstown our Premier Intermediate hurlers face Carrigaline in the 3rd round of this year’s County Championship. As unforgettable as our win over Cloyne was and will be, it still seems an age ago now and the players have waited a long time for their 2nd game in this year’s championship. On Saturday Carrigaline start as favourites and are tipped by most to win the game and have a very short price in the local turf accountants. Hmmm, now where have this Aghada team heard all that before!! Best of luck to Alan Morr and Captain Tim Hartnett and to all involved on Saturday. We know, just as the last day out in Castlemartyr, they will give their all for the Aghada cause!!

Then on Sunday at 3:30pm in Killeagh our JB hurlers are in the quarter final of the East Cork against Midleton. This team had done buckets of hurling this year and although it’s a tough draw on Sunday, hopefully the work will pay off and we can come away with the win. Best to Aiden Kelleher and his chargers in this one.

What about our Gaelic for Mothers and Others team!! The first Aghada team to play in that most hallowed of stadiums – Croke Park. At half time during one of Sunday week’s intercounty ladies football finals, Cathal McAllisters charges will showcase their skills in an exhibition game against a club from another County. What an experience for all involved. I’m sure they will have some children really proud of them plus a few jealous husbands and partners!!!!. G4M&O is a brilliant example of what is so great about the Gaa, providing an outlet, social and sporting, for another section of the local community to get involved playing our National games. Best of luck to all involved. Enjoy the occasion.

Another brilliant occasion was our recent Marathon. Below is the link of the video that was made to celebrate the day. Another great production, well done to all. Click and enjoy -
