AGHADA CAMOGIE PRESENTATION SOCIAL

On Friday February 1st all roads were clear of snow and ice from the highways of Aghada to Garryvoe Hotel for the 2018 (U16/U14/U13/U12) medal presentation evening for Aghada Ladies Football and Camogie Club.

The night began with 160 guests enjoying a most beautiful choice of dinner and Juvenile “Happy Meal” in the Banquet Room of this splendid East Cork Hotel.

We were delighted to welcome Lar and Denise Collins and Catherine Terry, (Principals from Aghada, Scartleigh and Whitegate National Schools), who promote our GAA, Camogie and Ladies Football and are presently preparing Girls/Boys to compete in the East Cork Scor Na bPaiste competition. Our Aghada GAA invited guest was Pa O’ Connor (Vice Chairman) who gave a very welcomed speech on the success of Aghada Ladies Clubs and the availability of Club Facilities for ALL teams in Rostellan.

Donal Godfrey (Camogie MC) welcomed Mentors from each age group to make the many medal presentations to each girl, and were snap happy for photographic memories of those special GLAM Sporting moments. Willie Wallace presented Aoife Healy with a Club Shop Voucher for her great achievement representing Aghada on the Cork U14 Camogie squad. (Clare Boylan Cork U14 and Ali Smith Cork U16 were unable to attend social). A very special big thank you was expressed by Vera Terry (Aghada Camogie Chairwoman) to ALL Parents, Mentors, Committee Members, Aghada GAA/Ladies Football Clubs, Michelle/Seamus O’ Driscoll (Pitch Booking) and MANY supporters for working in harmony to promote team sport for Girls, Boys, Women and Men in Rostellan GAA Grounds.

Cathal McAllister (MC for Aghada Ladies Football) was next up to introduce their successful teams and mentors. Thanks to Anne- Marie, Shiela, Liz and Vera for organising this event.

This was truly a Community Evening and described with the words of 80’s singer Cindy Lauper’s “GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN”. This was exactly what the Aghada Girls Motto was a “Night of Dancing with “THE STARS”. A special words of thanks to DJ Shane (Farmer) who kept the show on road with his mix of new and old music finishing with “Caledonia” and “The Circle of Friends” to round off a most memorable evening.
