From Race Director - Brendan Crowley

Dear all,

On behalf of the entire organising committee of East Cork Harbour Marathon, I want to thank you all very sincerely for helping to make last Saturday 11th August a truly memorable occasion for our club and local community.
The dreary weather was no match for the bubbling enthusiasm shown by all athletes and volunteers throughout the day.
ECHM 2018 was the culmination of an enormous amount of hard work and preparation done by so many people in our area. This entire event owes its very existence to the vibrant sense of volunteerism that is well and truly alive in our club and local community. You, the volunteer, made last Saturday a reality. Your endless commitment and hard work were an invaluable asset to the organisation of the entire event. Such was the extent of your generosity of spirit that you are too many in number to mention individually. However, you wore multiple hats throughout the event and the days leading up to it.
We had the Goodie Bag Pack Team, the Lunch Pack Team, the Race Pack Pick-up Team, The Carpark Team, The Grounds Team, The Signage Team, The Water Station Team, The Music & Entertainment Team, The Photography and Videography Team, The Start Line Team, The Finish Line Team, The Timing Team, The Sponsorship Team, The Marketing Team, The Bag Drop Team, The T-Shirt/Medal/Goodie Bag Team, The Catering Team, The Family Fun Day Team, The Raffle Team, The Warmdown Team, The Clean-up Team and of course the huge Roadside Marshal Team. With your continuously selfless attitude and commitment to the collective, we salute you. You inspire us to work for the greater good of all.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank An Garda Síochána, Cork County Council, The Irish Coastguard, The Irish Red Cross, The Civil Defence, Marshals MCC, our voluntary medical team, Aghada Running Club and our many terrific sponsors for all their efforts and support. Without the incredible support of our fantastic sponsors we would simply be unable to host this event. We strongly urge all of our patrons to support all of our sponsors.

We are continually looking to improve the delivery of the event. If you have any comments/suggestions in relation to this please email us by 21.00 this Sunday August 19th at info@eastcorkmarathon.com

So until we meet again at next year’s ECHM on Sat August 10th 2019!

Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.

Beir bua agus beannacht,
Brendan and all The ECHM Team

From Jimmy O'Leary - Aghada Gaa Chairman

Dear All,

On behalf of the Aghada GAA community I would like to reiterate Brendan’s sentiment and sincerely thank you for helping make the East Cork Harbour Marathon an excellent, enjoyable and massive success on Saturday last.  Its great to see this event grow from strength to strength each year.

While the commitment from all of you was immense and really appreciated, Brendan’s Leadership needs special mention - His Energy & Passion kept everything going throughout the lead up to race day and day itself – Thanks a million Brendan.

All roads lead to Ballynoe this Saturday evening – I ask that you all please travel and support our Premier Intermediate Hurlers – Best of luck to Colm, Pierce, Jake, selectors and the entire panel. And all the best to our JB hurlers who are in championship action against St. Catherines in Killeagh on Sunday at 12pm,

Thank you all again for your help on Saturday last,

Jimmy
