Match Report - U15 Premier A2 Football – Aghada V Bandon.
Our U15 footballers started their premier A2 League campaign against Bandon. The Friday night under lights clash, with the weather conditions far from perfect for good football. However, the team managed very well with the wet conditions and secured a comprehensive win over Bandon with a score line of 6-15 to 1-07.
Thomas Land was excellent between the posts and ensured his defensive team of Jack Corkery, Lachlan Greig, Ronan Murphy, Sean O’Callaghan, Donagh Collins and Kalem Keane were well on top. The new midfield partnership of Oran Crowe and Conell Rooney were dominating the midfield encounters and were providing super-fast ball for the forwards to work off. The half forward line of Scott Whyte Shane Lewis and Michael Joseph were also in fine form. While the full forward line of Eoin Motherway, Fintan Cody and Jack Colbert were causing the Bandon backs all sorts of problems with their quick movement on and off the ball. Aghada closed the first half off on a score line of 3-06 to 1-01.
With the half time speech from team Manager Colin Rooney out of the way (translations completed by Derick and Morgan), the team started off the 2nd half the way they ended the 1st. With a fast moving, hard hitting style of play. With so many scores coming from the players it is hard to document them all on this report. The one score that stood out on the night was from Eoin Motherway, who received an inch perfect pass from Oran Crowe, Eoin still had some work to do and struck a beautiful ball into the net.
Being the first game of the year for the team, the management started making some changes into the second half, which saw the introduction of Aaron Atkins and Michael Corkery. Both players did very well when introduced for Shane Lewis and Fintan Cody.
It was good to see such an impressive performance from this side and at this level. Here’s hoping for more of these results in the weeks and months ahead. (And for some better weather !!!)
