The Play: Aghada drew Bride Rovers in the quarter final of the county championship. Aghada had defeated Cloughduv and Charleville in their campaign. The pitch in Rathcormac was in perfect condition after all the rain over the previous week. Aghada started the first half with the aid of a slight wind. They registered 2 points in the first 5 minutes before Bride Rover settled into the game. They got a goal when a 45 free dropped short and it was batted out by the defence but it fell to waiting forward who made no mistake and scored a goal. This lifted Bride Rovers who went on to score a further 3 points. Aghada hit back with a goal and point heading towards half time. Score 1-03 a piece going into the break. The second half began with both sides contesting every ball. It was a very tense second half with scores being traded by both sides. In the 47 minute of the match Bride Rovers secured their second goal to pull 4 points in front. Within a minute Aghada hit back with a goal of their own to put 1 point between the sides. The score 2-08 to 2-07 to Bride Rovers. It was Bride Rovers who went on to score a further 3 points in closing minutes. Aghada dropped a number of balls into the Bride Rovers square hoping to secure a goal but their defence held firm on the day. Bride Rovers won on a scoreline to 2-11 to 2-07.
Training began in January 14th this year and we would like to thank all the girls for their commitment to the team. They had a total of 49 sessions, matches and training during the year. We would like to thank Marie McGrath for all the help she provided during the year for the U16 / U18 teams. We would like to thank all the parents for their support and help.
