U16A Challenge match
Teams: St Finbars V Aghada
Venue:St Finbar GAA
Date: Wednesday 27th July 2016
Aghada travelled to St Finbars for an U16 challenge game. On the night Aghada were only missing 1 player from their panel due to injury . St Finbars were missing a number of their players due to holidays. Both sides had met earlier in the year with St Finbars coming out on top by a goal. The Aghada girls have been working hard in training over the last few months and have played a number of challenge matchs. The majority of the panel have been playing minor and Junior football with the club over the summer and this has improved their fitness. From the start of the game Aghada were dominant, and played extremely well as a team and scored some brilliant points. After 20 minutes Aghada gave the 4 substitutes a run out. Aghada were well on top and 10 minutes into the second half rested a number of players as they have a minor football match the following night. St finbars never gave up and had a number of balls cleared off the Aghada goal line in the second half. The Aghada goal keeper brought off 3 great saves to keep a clean sheet. The backline played well as a unit and made it difficult for the opposition to get a clean strike. The blocking and the hooking was immense throughout the game. The Aghada mentors were extremely happy with the performance of the team as they played well and supported each other throughout the game. The sliotar was always moved onto another player who was in a better scoring position; this was seen by the number of scorers on the night. Aghada had 8 different scorers. Final score Aghada 3-14 to St Finabars 0-03.
