Junior A football League – Aghada 3-13 v Cobh 2-6 ; Rostellan Mon, 15th of May 2017
This was a game that had to be refixed after floodlight failure in Cobh caused the original fixture to be abandoned. With championship coming up against Castlelyons on Friday, this proved to be a good work out in preparation for that. Played in Rostellan on Mon the 15th the 1st half was an even enough affair with the home side leading 5pts to 4 at the break. Having played against a very strong wind this was a great position for Aghada going in at the break. They were thankful for some excellent defending from Alan Walsh, Kane Looney and Aaron Butler. The game really exploded into life in the second half with the net shaking on either side 5 times in total. Thankfully, Aghada hit 3 of these goals – Jordan Ryan and Richie Condon goaled from play, while Danny Creedon buried a penalty. With Mark Healy continuing to impress and Conal Rabbitt and David O’Keeffe both getting through an amount of work, Aghada started to pull away as the half wore on. Score of the game came as midfield substitute Aiden Kelleher rolled back the years, when he split the uprights from the half way line. In the end Aghada took the points on offer winning by 10 points in the end.
