Fixture: U18B Camogie League
Teams: Enniskeane v Aghada
Venue: Enniskeane GAA Grounds
Date: Sunday 7th May 2017
The Play: Aghada played their final league game in Enniskeane. On the day Enniskeane had 13 players and Aghada matched their numbers. This was a very even contest and both teams played some great camogie. At half time there was very little separating the teams. Aghada goaled 10 minutes into the second half and Enniskeane responded within a minute. Going into the last 10 minutes Aghada led 1-07 to 1-05. The fitness of the Aghada girls kicked in for the final 10 minutes as they ran at Enniskeane every chance they could and scored an impressive 8 points in the last 10 minutes of the match to win on a score line of 1-15 to 1-05. This result meant that Aghada qualified for the quarter finals of the county league.

Fixture: U18B Camogie League quarter final
Teams: Charleville v Aghada
Venue: Charleville GAA Grounds
Date: Saturday 13th May 2017
The Play: Aghada qualified out their section of U18B league to face Charleville in the quarter finals. It was a very wet afternoon travelling to Charleville and Aghada were missing a couple of girls due to other commitments. Aghada fielded 13 players and this was matched by Charleville. Aghada took the game to Charleville from the off and registered some nice points. The Charleville keeper pulled off some fine saves before Aghada scored a goal before half time. Aghada led at half time 1-05 to 1-01. Aghada were well in the game and were confident going out in the second half. But Aghada didn’t show up in the second half, Charleville upped their game and Aghada had no answer. Charleville went on to score 6 goals in the second half and won comfortably 7-02 to 2-07.
This was the girls final league match. We wish all the exam girls best of luck in coming weeks.
Once exams are over we will start organising challenge matches.

U9 Camogie Blitz Sat 27th May
Our U9 Camogie team travelled to Fr O’Neill’s Aghavine Pitch last Saturday 27th May for their 1st County Blitz of the year. 3 teams attended, Fr O Neill’s, Rockban and ourselves. We all split into two teams and we played 3 twenty minutes games. Our girls played brilliantly and showed great striking, blocking and clashing skills. We were blessed with fine sun shine and even sun cream was been applied. All our parents helped out on the day on the side line. We were well looked after by Fr O Neills and the end of blitz ice lollies went down a treat with the girls, followed by tea, coffee, drinks and a fine spread. Well done all involved.
Team: Abbey Conway, Niamh Conway, Clare Mulcahy, Maeve Wallace, Sorcha Lane, Pearl Cody, Ciara Flynn, Addison O’Neill, Lauren O’Connor, Emily Dunne and Eve Mirner.
U11 Camogie Blitz Sat 27th May
The first U11 County Blitz took place on Saturday 27th May in Aghada. 6 teams took part – Aghada, Midleton, Fr O Neills, Cobh and Sars (2 teams). Each team had 3 matches. It was a great afternoon of Camogie especially when the sun came out in that afternoon. There will be more U11 Blitz over the coming next few weeks to keep the girls busy. Big thanks to all parents who help out on day and who provided refreshment for the event.
