Aghada U15A Imokilly Camogie Clash

On Saturday evening, Aghada U15 Camogie Team, Mentors and Supporters travelled to Sars. GAA Grounds to compete in the Imokilly U15A Semi- final V Sarsfield 1 team. With the home team HOT favourites to win this game the Aghada Girls were incredibly unlucky to lose this encounter. Sars scored a goal in added time to force extra time (largely against the run of play). Heads were down and exhaustion set in, Aghada girls in the first 10 mins of extra time conceding 3-02 in 5 minutes. But an inspiring fight back in the 2nd half, saw the Aghada Girls score 3 goals to 1 point. Unfortunately Players left just too much to claw back. This team can hold their head high after a massive effort by ALL Players and now focus on U16 championship game in Ballincollig on Monday evening. Team: Chloe McI, Ella L, Niamh C, Clodagh T, Maeve Mc G, Clare B, Clodagh W, Rachel L, Aoife H, Abigail Ring, Haley O’ S, Isabel B, May C, Aisling G, Holly Ann L.

East Cork Harbour Marathon

What can one say that has not been said in that last 24/48 hours only that this is an Extraordinary Achievement for EVERYONE involved in the hosting of East Cork Harbour Marathon? Early morning on Saturday 11th August as the mist began to settle on the Aghada GAA Grounds, one would believe there was a National Event about to commence as the MANY volunteers from our five clubs and the wider community were working (Under the Guidance of Brendan, Claire, Matty, Paul etc…).on the final preparations being put in place. Great credit to ALL those who were on the assembly line on Thursday Evening and Friday Morning getting the back packs filled by the many donated treats. For those who competed in the FULL/HALF Marathon or 10k RUN their effort was so appreciated with the welcome they received at the finish line. The word on the ground was that this Marathon Event is up there with the Best for the sheer perfection to detail on ALL Routes on the road (Water/Traffic Control Stations)and the excellent catering and hospitality facilities at Aghada GAA Grounds. Thanks to everyone who purchased Raffle Tickets for Marymount Hospice. It is now time for the organisersto take a bow and for those that enjoy “The Run” get registering for The 2019 ECHM!!!!!!
