U7 & U8 Hurling.
Aghada U7 & U8 hurlers were in action at Aghada GAA grounds last Saturday morning 19th.
The grounds were in magnificent order and received compliments from the visiting clubs.
We had 2 teams in action. Each team played 3 games with everybody getting loads of playing time. They all played very well and are continuously improving which is great to see.
Thank you to all who helped out with handing out Teas and Refreshments to the Kids and Parents after the Blitz.
Great display from our U16 Hurlers in beating Whitechurch in the Championship at Aghada last Wednesday evening 16th on a scorline of 4-15 to 1-14.
Aghada started very well with Adam O Brien causing fierce problems for the Whitechurch full back line by fielding and breaking ball for the corner forwards. Aghada rattled the net 3 times and picked off some lovely scores from play and frees. At half-time we led by 3-10 to 0-5. Darragh Ryan, Dylan Buckley Conor O’Keefe, Dermot Phelan, Rory O Connell & Jamie O’ Hanlon all clipping over scores.
Whitechurch had the breeze in the 2nd half so our backs were under more pressure in this half but coped very well. We took some great scores this half to keep the scoreboard moving and in the end ran out winners by 4-15 to 1-14. We introduced 4 substitutes in the 2nd half some of whom were U14 and all performed very well.
Congrats on the win and on to the semi-final of this competition next.

U11 Football v Youghal.
After a practice game V Glanmire at the start of August the Aghada u11 footballers headed to the seaside town of Youghal to take on the home side on the day that Mayo drew with Kerry in the all-Ireland SFC semi-final To say the morning weather was poor would be an understatement, and the game played with high quality football was a credit to both sides. The Aghada lads who beach trained mid week threw everything at the “Youghal Boys” from the very start, the half back line of Crowley, Motherway and White ( Colm must have swallowed a dozen Duracell batteries with the morning corn flakes and covered every patch of grass during the game) drove forward, up front Murray, Mulcahy and O Donnell were winning great ball playing it smartly to the in rushing Seanie Corkery, Samuel and the hard working David Wallace!!!!!!! Half time came with nothing between the sides and as the players wrapped in tin foil to keep warm were given instructions to keep it going as the rain came down in buckets!!!!!!!!! Jake Douglas scored a super goal as the second half began assisted by James Hurley and Keelan Cody and the roving forward Isaac Oosthuizen!!!!!!!!! Soon it was the Youghal Boys turn to take over and some excellent defending by our full back line of Keelan Mclaughlin, Ronan Devoy and Daniel Murphy made life difficult for the Youghal forwards!!!!!!! Goalkeeper Niall Kirrane was outstanding throughout making some great saves!!! The final move involved ice cool jack Linehan gathering the ball, playing a one-two with Sean O Callaghan, who moved the ball quickly to Charlie Murphy who was grounded, for Aghada to kick the final score of the game which ended in a deserved draw!!!!!!!!!!! Well done to both sides on playing some great football in difficult conditions!!!!!!!!!!! thanks again to parents who braved the elements to watch the game.
U10 Football…Our U10 footballers travelled to Cobh on Saturday 19th. 2 very good football matches on a Saturday morning. Tough hard tackling and some excellent scores saw Aghada prevail.

Well done to local girl and Aghada Ladies GAA Footballer Aishling O’Connor on her great performance on stage at the Rose of Tralee. You looked stunning on stage and did the area very proud. Congrats also to her Parents and family on what was a proud event for all the family.
Also congrats to the Murphy Family on winning a trip to New York by entering an excellent video of their recent trip to the opening weekend in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. They travelled by Car, Bike, Boat and Foot to get there and recorded their journey along the way.
