Senior football league Div 3 – Aghada 0-6 v Glanworth 0-11 – Friday 8.15pm 7/4/2017
Aghada were second best to a pacey Glanworth side last Friday in Rostellan, in a disappointing performance in the last league game before the 1st round of championship. Aghada did lead twice in the opening 10 minutes, but that was about as good as it got. In truth the North Cork outfit were better in nearly all sectors of the pitch. They led 7 v 4 at half time. The second half saw Aghada only add two pints to their tally and Glanworth ran out comfortable winners by 5 points. Injuries to Shane Bennett and Aaron Berry compounded a bad night at the office for Aghada. The Aghada goal came from the boot of Cian O’Driscoll. Two Football championship games this week. Our senior footballers renew rivalries with Dohenys in a preliminary round of this year’s Cork County Senior football championship. The sides met in the 1st round as well two years ago, with the Dunmanway men emerging victorious on that occasion, so here’s hoping the tables can be turned this time around. The game is on this Saturday the 15th of April in Ovens with 6pm throw in time. Please come along and give the lads your support. Best of luck to all involved.
Before that, on Thursday the 13th of April, our third football team play the 1st round of the Junior C championship against Glenville at 7pm. Venue not known at time of going to press. Check website for updates. Best of luck to all involved here as well.
